Kacific Broadband Satellites Group and Sky Perfect JSAT have confirmed that SpaceX will launch the two companies’ shared condominium satellite, Kacific 1/JCSAT 18. SpaceX will launch the satellite in the second half of 2019 atop a Falcon 9 rocket.

Kacific 1 will deliver high speed broadband to South East Asia and Pacific regions via 56 narrow Ka-band beams. JCSAT 18 will carry a Ku- and Ka-band payload over Asia-Pacific including Far East Russia, as well as traditional wide-beam capacity over East Asia, to meet demand for mobility, broadband, government and cellular backhaul support.

SkyPerfect JSAT and Kacific ordered the satellite from Boeing in February. It will be built based on Boeing’s 702 satellite bus, used also for ABS 3A, Thuraya 2 and Intelsat 21.
