Ghana Enters the Space Race with First Satellite On-Orbit
A great day for our friends in Ghana as the nation celebrates launching GhanaSat 1 — its first satellite — into orbit on a SpaceX rocket. While Ghana’s government didn’t officially support the mission (most of the support was provided from JAXA), the success of the mission could motivate other governments on the continent to support future missions. From the article: “Several nations, such as South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia have space agencies. Angola announced its intention to launch a satellite over the coming year,” said Elsie Kanza, Head of Africa at the World Economic Forum.
