[Satellite TODAY 05-25-11] Revenues from satellite pay-TV increased by more than $10 billion in 2011 compared with 2010. This was the one of the findings of a major new study by Euroconsult into the global satellite pay-TV market.
According to the report, satellite pay-TV revenues in 2011 were close to $90 billion. This compares to just $79 billion in 2010. According to Euroconsult, there are now 184 million satellite pay-TV subscribers and close to 140 satellite pay-TV platforms.
Euroconsult forecasts that global industry revenues could reach close to $150 billion in 2021, with emerging markets (i.e. Latin America, Central Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Asia) representing a growing share of revenues that will nearly double in the next 10 years to reach 44 percent by 2021.
