Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) has signed an agreement with Prime Telecom of Brazil for Occasional Use (OU) capacity on the ABS 3A satellite for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup games for Television Nacional de Chile (TVN). The 10th FIFA Confederations Cup is a soccer tournament organized by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), held in Russia from June 17 to July 2. The matches are being played across four cities: Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan and Sochi, with eight teams competing for the coveted title.

ABS 3A at 3 degrees west is capable of providing Ku-band coverage over Russia and South America in a single hop, according to ABS. The satellite offers cross-strapping that enables uplink from any of the four venues where the matches are taking place in Russia directly to the TVN facilities in Santiago, Chile. TVN will use the capacity live transmissions of the games in High Definition (HD) and for collateral transmissions from outside of the stadiums and hotels.
