Eutelsat Launches New Fashion, Travel Ultra HD Channels

[Via Satellite 01-04-2016] Eutelsat Communications has launched two new Ultra HD channels at its Hotbird video neighborhood. Fashion TV’s new Ultra HD channel, FTV UHD, and Travelxp 4K, a 4K travel channel, have signed on for multi-year contracts with Eutelsat to leverage Hotbird’s penetration into cable and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) networks across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

FTV UHD launched on Dec. 23, while Travelxp 4K will begin broadcasting this month. Both channels have selected High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoding with 10 bits of color depth at 50 frames per second.
