Newtec Introduces New Broadcast Modulator, CCT DVB-S2 Technology

By Jeffrey Hill | August 20, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 08-20-12] Newtec has unveiled its M6100 broadcast satellite modulator designed specifically for contribution, DTH broadcast, distribution head-ends and towers, the company announced Aug. 17.

The Newtec M6100 features built-in functionality for Carrier ID insertion, which aims to fight threats to service caused by several concurrent transmissions via satellite. Newtec said the product launch was driven by the increasing demand from satellite operators, broadcasters and broadcast unions for RF interference solutions in 2012.
Newtec also is launching its integrated Clean Channel Technology (CCT) — a combination of improved roll-offs for DVB-S2 and advanced filtering technologies to allow optimal carrier spacing. The company said the combination could deliver efficiency gains up to 15 percent.
“The latest world-record transmission tests with leading satellite operators Intelsat, Eutelsat and Yahsat speak for themselves,” Newtec said in a statement. “Customers in the region are already looking into implementing Newtec’s CCT. Harmonic, one of the world leaders in digital video infrastructure solutions, and Globosat, a leading company in content production, aggregation and distribution, have already tested CCT.”
