[Satellite TODAY 08-13-12] Cisco subsidiary NDS and DTH pay-TV provider Canal Digital are collaborating to launch a next-generation TV platform as a hosted, managed service, the partners announced Aug. 10.

NDS said the new platform would allow Canal Digital subscribers to access content anytime, anywhere and on multiple devices, enabling both satellite and Over-the-Top (OTT) service delivery.
NDS will deliver, host and manage the end-to-end hybrid infrastructure for Canal Digital, as well as integrate its Unified Headend outside of the Canal Digital network unit to power the platform.
“In providing a wholly managed service for Canal Digital we are combining our experience and technical capability to extend our role as solutions provider further than ever before,” Cisco Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Technology Jesper Andersen said in a statement. “But more significantly, the approach taken by Canal Digital shows market innovation and progression to hosted and cloud-based technologies that will enable future-proofed platforms, optimized resources and scalability.”
