Google to Sell Ad Space on DirecTV Networks

[Satellite TODAY 08-12-10] U.S. satellite pay-TV operator DirecTV has entered into a partnership with Google in which the Internet search engine company will sell its advertising inventory on several of DirecTV’s cable networks, the companies announced Aug. 11.
    Advertising on the Bloomberg, Fox Business, Centric, Fuel, G4, Current, Ovation, Fit, Sleuth, Chiller and TV Guide networks will be available through the  Google TV Ads system across all timeslots. Google said its Google TV Ads customers would now be able to reach up to 18.7 million satellite households through the DirecTV partnership.
    “We are delighted to partner with Google and embark on this initiative together. Google TV Ads is an excellent advertising tool and will be a tremendous complement to DirecTV’s existing suite of innovative assets,” DirecTV Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales Bob Riordan said in a statement.
    Financial details of the partnership agreement were not disclosed.
