NHK World TV Moves to AsiaSat 3S C-band Platform

[Satellite TODAY 10-21-09] AsiaSat signed a capacity deal with Japan International Broadcasting (JIB), a subsidiary of NHK Japan Broadcasting Corp., to deliver the NHK World TV English-language news channel through a C-band transponder platform on the AsiaSat 3S satellite, AsiaSat announced Oct. 20.
    Home viewers across Asia and Australasia will be able to receive the free-to-air broadcast signal directly via a satellite dish or through local cable operators and DTH services providers.
   “AsiaSat 3S is a strategic addition to our distribution network to access more viewers in the Asia-Pacific [region]. Since our relaunch earlier this year, NHK World TV/JIB TV are now viewed by more than 110 million households worldwide. AsiaSat 3S’s superb market access and international television neighborhood put us in a strong position to further broaden our reach and serve a wider English speaking audience across the Asia-Pacific [region],” Jun Kawakami, executive managing director of JIB, said in a statement.
