Eutelsat Acquires Romanian Broadcasting Capacity from GlobeCast

By Staff Writer | July 30, 2009

[Satellite Today 07-30-09] Eutelsat has signed a capacity deal with GlobeCast for a transponder to broadcast channels by Romanian public broadcaster TVR, the operator announced July 29.
Eutelsat said the deal will double TVR’s resources at 16 degrees East orbital slot and enable the broadcaster to increase signal quality and support new channel growth for digital and HD broadcasting.
This latest capacity builds on a global distribution solution provided to TVR by GlobeCast, including delivery of the broadcaster’s programming to GlobeCast’s World TV direct-to-home service in the United States as well as to platforms in Australia and New Zealand.
TVR branched into HDTV broadcasting with the launch of TVR HD in 2008.
