GlobeCast Expands Middle Eastern Satellite, Fiber Network

By Staff Writer | March 4, 2009

GlobeCast has launched a new fiber and satellite link to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and is finalizing plans for a connection to Jordan Media City (JMC) in Amman, which is expected to go live in April, GlobeCast announced Mar. 4.
The new link will help facilitate joint ventures between the JMC and GlobeCast to deliver content to and from the Middle East.
GlobeCast said its ongoing expansion will connect the region with points-of-presence in Asia, North America, Africa and Europe and allow the company to continue differentiating its broadcast delivery service by offering a hybrid satellite and fiber solution.
GlobeCast has made a number of key geographic expansions over the past few months with the acquisition of PCM in Hong Kong, two new platforms in Asia – Asiasat 3S and Measat 3 – and a DTH platform on Astra 4A (Sirius 4) for coverage across sub-Saharan Africa, announced Mar. 3.
