Tandberg Captures Pair of IPTV Headend Deals

[Satellite Today 12-5-08] Tandberg Television received contracts from South Korea’s KT and SK Broadband for equipment to support IPTV expansion, Tandberg announced Dec. 5.
    KT, selected a Tandberg Television IPTV headend to support growth of its Mega TV IPTV service, which has more than 700,000 subscribers and provides interactive and pay-per-view services. KT will use Tandberg’s EN8090 HD MPEG-4 AVC and EN8030 SD MPEG-4 AVC encoders to expand its linear broadcast TV services.
    SK Broadband, South Korea’s second largest broadband provider, is deploying a Tandberg EN8030 MPEG-4 AVC SD encoders, EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoders, iPlex for IP multiplexing and RX1290 SD/HD Integrated Receiver Decoders. This solution will enable SK Broadband to launch linear broadcast television services in 2009, following the recent granting of regulatory approval for Korean IPTV providers to introduce broadcast services to complement existing video-on-demand content.
