Arabsat CEO Unconcerned by Potential Impact of IPTV

By Staff Writer | September 17, 2008

[Satellite Today 09-17-08] Arabsat CEO, Khalid Balkheyour does not believe IPTV will make an impact in the Middle East any time soon.
“I don’t think IPTV will have an impact in the Middle East over the next five years,” he told Satellite News. “I think Internet penetration is not that high. There is a lack of DSL penetration. I think satellite reception will continue to be the preferred method to gain TV services. Fiber-to-the-home to the end user is not a very viable option right now, at least on a large scale.”
