Intelsat Signs Capacity Deal With Colombian Provider

[Satellite Today – 4-11-08] Intelsat Ltd. has signed a multi-year, multi-transponder deal to distribute content from Elite Entertainment Television S.A., Intelsat announced April 10.
    Intelsat will distribute direct-to-home (DTH) content, including movies, sports, news and entertainment to customers in Colombia. 
    “Intelsat provides the satellite capacity that enables world-class solutions for video distribution throughout the world,” said Carmen Gonzalez-Sanfeliu, Intelsat’s regional vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean in a statement. “Delivering this new DTH content demonstrates our commitment to our customers and our customers’ end users. South America is an important region for Intelsat and this agreement affirms Intelsat’s position as the leading satellite services company serving Latin America.”
    Separately, Intelsat also signed a contract with Rainbow Network Communications to deliver high-definition programming into the North American cable market.
