Intelsat, SisLink Pair Up For Satellite Newsgathering Service

[Satellite Today – 2-25-08] – Intelsat Ltd. and SisLink have formed a strategic alliance to launch a high-definition (HD)-ready automated video delivery service for satellite newsgathering users in the United States, the companies announced Feb. 25.
    The strategic alliance will blend Intelsat’s space and ground infrastructure with SisLink’s uPodT system to support Web-based scheduling and transmission of live standard and HD video as well as voice and Internet communications.
The service is scheduled to be launched in April 200, initially targeting customers who lease full-time space segment capacity for satellite newsgathering applications. A version of the service targeting occasional-use customers is planned for launch later in 2008.
