[Satellite Today -2-5-08] Indian direct-to-home operator Tata Sky plans to introduce a personal video recorder (PVR) by the end of the year, the company announced Feb. 5.
The operator also is cutting the costs of existing hardware. “We are confident that this pricing will catapult the process of digitization across the country and will help boost the government’s efforts to digitize India by 2010,” Vikram Kaushik, Tata Sky’s CEO said in a statement.
The service is available in nearly 5,000 Indian towns, and the operator is one of the fastest growing satellite pay-TV providers in the world, adding 1.5 million subscribers in about 16 months.
