[12-27-07 – Satellite Today] XM Satellite Radio has resolved lawsuits brought by Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group over XM’s Pioneer Inno, XM announced.
Warner claimed the Pioneer Inno, a portable satellite radio with advanced recording features, breaks broadcast copyright standards.
None of the companies disclosed the terms of the deal, but Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group have withdrawn as a party to the complaint filed against XM by The Recording Industry Association of America, which represents record companies such as BMG Music, Elektra Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Virgin Records. The suit is seeking $150,000 in damages for every song copied by XM customers, according to the suit filed May 16, 2006 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
