NDS Offers New HD-DVR with Amino; SES AMERICOM Announced as First Customer

[10-24-07 – Satellite Today] NDS has introduced a new high-definition digital video recorder, an Amino AmiNET530 set-top box (STB) powered by Metro middleware, for the IPTV market, the company announced Oct. 24.

The Amino AmiNET530 is an integrated IPTV middleware and conditional access solution that provides an end-to-end turnkey for telecommunications companies and broadband operators.

SES Americom has signed up to integrate the service into its IP-Prime IPTV solution.

“In order to compete effectively, telcos must have a very strong DVR offering for their IPTV customers,” said Dov Rubin, vice president and general manager at NDS Americas. “With that in mind, we have built an H.264 DVR featuring our Metro middleware and combined it with high definition – providing IPTV leaders such as SES Americom with a powerful and competitive product for their subscribers.”

The STB offers elements such as one-touch recording, the ability to schedule a recording through the electronic programming guide and disk playback capabilities.
