MTG’s Subscriber Mix improves

[10-24-07 – Satellite Today] The Modern Times Group (MTG) announced its results Oct. 23, giving an update on its DTH operations in both the Nordic and Baltic regions. The company’s subsidiary, Viasat Broadcasting had 846,000 DTH subscribers in the Nordic region at the end of September. Out of these, 90,000 were basic DTH subscribers, and the rest were premium subscribers.

The total subscriber numbers have remained roughly the same over the last year, but the company added 44,000 premium subscribers, while the number of basic DTH subscribers is reducing. At the end of September 2006, the company had close to 130,000 basic DTH subscribers, down by almost 40,000 subscribers over the last year.

In terms of its operations in central and Eastern Europe, the company now has 133,000 subscribers for its DTH service in the Baltic region. At the end of September 2006, the company only had 66,000 premium DTH subscribers in the Baltic region, so the number of subscribers has more than doubled in the last year.
