SES Sirius Confirms Sirius 4 Launch Date

[10-22-07 – Satellite Today] SES Sirius is getting ready for the launch of its Sirius 4 satellite. The operator said Oct. 22 that the satellite was delivered to the Baikonour Cosmodrome for launch next month. The launch date for Sirius 4 has been set for November 18.

Sirius 4 is a multi-mission Ku/Ka-band satellite to be deployed at the orbital position of 5° East. The spacecraft was built on Lockheed Martin’s A2100AX platform with the mission to enhance SES Sirius’capacity at 5° East and to further extend coverage of eastern Europe.

The launch date for Sirius 4 is subject to confirmation following the success of the Proton mission set for Oct. 25. On that mission Proton is scheduled to loft three Russian Glonass navigation satellites.
