[10-09-07 – Satellite Today]  The Modern Times Group (MTG), owners of the Viasat direct-to-home (DTH) platform, and Canal Digital have reached a deal that will enable all DTH subscribers to have access to the top rated channels in Norway.

The deal, announced Oct. 8, is a non-exclusive agreement where both parties have agreed not to distribute any of the five most watched channels in Norway. NRK1 and NRK2 are already distributed on both the Viasat and the Canal Digital satellite pay-TV platforms, and both TV distribution platforms are in discussions with TV2 regarding the inclusion of the channel in their packages.

Hans-Holger Albrecht, president and CEO of MTG said the deal was “an important and significant step in the development of the television industry in Norway.”
