Sirius Enhances Video Options to Customers

Sirius Satellite Radio is launching two new services which offer enhanced video options and portable audio entertainment to customers, the company announced August 15. Sirius is launching the first satellite radio tuner that can receive Sirius Backseat TV. The SCV1 satellite radio tuner delivers three channels of programming from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network, which will be available to customers 24/7. Backseat passengers will be able to watch shows such as Nickelodeon’s ‘SpongeBob SquarePants,’ Disney Channel’s ‘Cory in the House,’ and Cartoon Network’s ‘Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends’.

Sirius also announced August 15 that it was introducing a new advanced portable radio, Stiletto 2, which it claims takes portable audio entertainment “to the next level.” Stiletto 2 receives live Sirius Satellite Radio, Sirius Internet Radio and includes capabilities that Sirius claims, surpass the leading MP3 players. The service includes: enhanced WiFi capability, providing faster access to a larger number of networks and support for commercial WiFi hotspots; support for Sirius Internet Radio’s premium audio offering; removable microSD media slot for expanded storage of MP3/WMA files, and the ability to bookmark and purchase songs through any compatible online music service etc.

Sirius has more than seven million subscribers in the United States.
