[Via Satellite 04-10-2014] AsiaSat signed a contract with Arqiva for C-band capacity on the AsiaSat 5 satellite to broadcast sporting events to the Asia-Pacific region. AsiaSat 5 is Asia’s prime sports content delivery platform, distributing to broadcasters and operators a variety of elite sports such as football, cricket, volleyball and tennis.

“Asia is a strategically important region for us,” said David Crawford, managing director of satellite and media at Arqiva. “We’ve recently opened an office in Singapore and introduced a teleport service in Hong Kong where we provide fiber connectivity. Our focus on sport is critical to our success in the region and this new relationship with AsiaSat will provide flexible bandwidth and capacity for our customers in the Asia and Australasia region.”
