[Via Satellite 03-11-2014] Ericsson has signed an agreement with Telespazio to expand their current service offering to include MPEG-4 AVC HD and SD channels, while still maintaining the existing MPEG-2 SD channels. Telespazio will continue to use its existing Ericsson multiplexer platform and current transponder space, resulting in cost-saving benefits for the company.

The deployment of the Ericsson AVP 4000 system encoder will give the company the bandwidth needed to enable the introduction of new content distribution services. The services, delivered by Diem Technologies, is powered by Ericsson’s first professional video processing chip and will provide compression capabilities to Telespazio allowing it to introduce new HD and SD services in a fast, flexible manner.
