[Via Satellite 01-17-2014] DISH and Southwest Airlines are extending their partnership and their “TV Flies Free” program. Through Dec. 31, 2014, Southwest customers with Internet-ready devices will have free access to almost 20 live TV channels and 75 on-demand shows on any of Southwest’s Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft.

“By extending our partnership with Southwest we are able to give their customers a sample of what DISH customers experience on a daily basis: their favorite TV programs, anytime, anywhere and at no additional cost; simply the best mobile TV experience,” said DISH CMO James Moorhead.

Southwest’s live TV and on-demand programming options are powered by Ku-band satellite technology, which also provides customers with high-speed Internet and messaging throughout the duration of the flight.
