GlobeCast Signs Five-Year Distribution Deal with Eutelsat

[Satellite TODAY 04-12-11] GlobeCast concluded a five-year contract with Eutelsat Communications for a third transponder on the Eurobird 9A satellite, Globecast announced April 11.
     Eurobird 9A was chosen for its potential to reach more than 5 million DTH and cable homes. The satellite’s proximity to Eutelsat’s HOT BIRD™ video neighborhood at its 13 degrees east orbital location adds the opportunity for broadcasters to reach homes and headends equipped with dual-feed reception from both positions.
     GlobeCast’s service includes content management, playout and origination and encoding, and uplink to Eurobird 9A is possible from Paris: a central point that enjoys connectivity to more than 30 points-of-presence via GlobeCast’s fiber network. The first clients for the full HD, DVB-S2 platform include Eurosport and Fashion One.
