SES, GlobeCast Sign Orange TV Deal with France Telecom

[Satellite Today 01-08-09] SES Astra and GlobeCast signed a distribution and capacity deal with France Telecom to broadcast Orange TV, targeting French homes with no TV coverage over ADSL, the companies announced Jan. 7.    
    Orange TV is part of a triple-play offer (TV, telephone, Internet) and will be broadcast by the Astra satellite system from the 19.2 degrees East orbital position, which serves more than 5 million French direct-to-home households.
    GlobeCast will be handling transmission of Orange TV, including digitalization, MPEG-4 encoding, multiplexing, encryption and uplink services. GlobeCast is a subsidiary of France Telecom and one of SES’s major worldwide partners.
