[Satellite News 08-04-08] Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) has signed a long-term capacity agreement with the World Fashion Channel (WFC), the company said August 1. WFC has entered into a long-term agreement for capacity on the ABS-1 satellite to improve and extend the channel’s distribution in Asia.
WFC has launched two customized versions of their channel on ABS-1 satellite. Firstly, it has launched a version in the NTSC format via the ABS-operated DVB-S (Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite), MCPC (Multiple Channel Per Carrier) platform for Asian broadcasters. Secondly, it has launched a version via the PAL format via the ABS-operated DVB-S2 (Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite – Second Generation) MCPC platform for European broadcasters.
Igor Udalov, president of WFC, commented, “ABS will provide a total integrated broadcast solution for WFC including turn-around, signal processing, program insertion, encoding, encryption and uplink services on the ABS-1 satellite. In addition, its growing television neighborhood and affordable pricing are important reasons why we chose ABS as our new Asian satellite distribution solution.”
