[10-22-07 – Satellite Today] Nortel has integrated Widevine Technologies’content security solution into their IPTV solution. The partnership will help protect telecommunications operators’revenue streams and enable premium content licensing, Nortel announced Oct. 22.

The two companies have signed a global reseller agreement, which allows companies to adopt the secure solution. Nortel and Widevine have won multiple customers and their solution is in trials around the world, the companies said.

"Providing proven content security as part of our IPTV suite provides a better solution to our telco customers, as it allows them to obtain content from programmers and studios with the confidence that their intellectual property will be protected,”said Sameer Sheth, general manager of video solutions at Nortel. “Using Widevine’s security suite provides our IPTV solution with both best-in-class security as well as support for forensic watermarking — giving greater depth to our IPTV capabilities. Widevine is a great addition to our ecosystem as Nortel continues to strengthen our overarching IPTV solution.”
