Eutelsat Signs MultiChoice Capacity Deal

[8-30-07 – Satellite News Today] Eutelsat has signed a capacity deal with MultiChoice Africa for four Ku-band transponders on the Sesat 1 satellite, Eutelsat announced Aug. 30.

MultiChoice, one of the leading pay-TV operators in Africa, will use the additional capacity to expand its pay-TV and Internet services in sub-Saharan Africa. MultiChoice has nearly 450,000 subscribers throughout 48 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

The new deal will enable MultiChoice to extend the range of digital channels it markets to subscribers in Central and East Africa as well as its offer of residential and corporate Internet access.
MultiChoice now leases a total of 13 transponders on Eutelsat’s W4 and Sesat 1 satellites, which are co-located at 36º East.
